Philip J. Sasso, Jr was born in Melrose Park, IL on Earth Day April 22, 1999. His father does self employed marketing; while his mom was a former missionary in Iraq from 1992-1996. She later homeschooled Philip from Kindergarten to High School. He started to learn piano when he was eight years old and has played at recitals in Elmhurst College.

Philip decided that he wants to pursue a career in the music industry and studied Music Technology at Triton College from 2017 to 2020 earning him an Associates of Arts degree. He transferred to Judson University in 2020 where he was a part of the Demoss Center for Worship in the Performing Arts program and majored in Music Business/Entrepreneurship and double minored in Music Composition and Praise & Worship music earning a bachelors degree in 2023. He first started writing original music in 2020 when the COVID 19 pandemic started and when performing background music wasn’t possible during lockdowns, and restrictions.

Because of his Italian-American nationality, he has won scholarships from the Italian American Executives of Transportation (2017, 2019, 2022), the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans (2020), and the Cegliese Italo-American Members Association (2017). He was also on a music scholarship for Judson University’s Piano Ensemble, and a recipient for the Huntley Brown Performing Arts Endowment scholarship in 2022.

In addition to being a part of the Judson University Piano Ensemble, he has also taken free jazz piano lessons from Christian concert pianist, and the Judson Univeristy Demoss Center for Worship in the Performing Arts Artist-in-Residence Reverend Dr. Huntley Brown, who has toured with the Billy Graham Evangelical Association. Philip has also been a part of the Judson University Choir, the Judson University Jazz Combo, and the Judson University Percussion Ensemble. During a two week JU Choir tour in 2022, he was an assistant for Rev. Dr. Huntley Brown.

In addition to being a pianist, he is also a composer, songwriter, and sound engineer. He records music using MIDI from DAW applications like Logic Pro (Apple, Inc), and Ableton Live. He uses Pro Tools (Avid) for mixing and mastering his music. For music notation, he uses Finale (MakeMusic) and MuseScore (MuseHub). He also does visual compositing and uses Final Cut Pro (Apple, Inc), and Adobe Premiere (Adobe, Inc).

In the future, Philip says that wants to work in the Christian music industry, having a Christian faith background and a christ-centered lifestyle.
